Ray Carol Parker Kitchens

Ray Carol Parker Kitchens, age 92, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2024, at Spanish Oaks Retreat in Savannah, GA. She was born on December 19, 1931, in Douglas, GA, to Clifton Calvin Parker and Belle Carroll Parker.

Ray spent most of her life in Savannah, GA, residing on Isle of Hope, a community she cherished deeply. She earned her Bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia and her Master's degree from Armstrong State College.

For 49 years, Ray was an active member of the Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, where she served with unwavering devotion. She took great joy in her roles within the church, working in the church library and serving as the church historian. Beyond her contributions to her faith community, Ray loved gardening and playing bridge with her close friends.

Ray was also a beloved teacher at Savannah Christian, where she inspired and impacted the lives of many students through her passion for education.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Fred Joel Kitchens, Jr.; her son, Fred Joel Kitchens III; and her sister, Myrna Parker.

Ray is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Kitchens Bobbitt (Scott), and her cherished grandchildren, Parker, Sally, and Zach.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Spanish Oaks Retreat for their excellent care and for making Ray’s time there so warm and comfortable. They would also like to thank the members of her church who visited her faithfully and brought her comfort.

Ray’s life was marked by love, dedication, and service. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Stephanie and family, we will continue to keep Mom's Spirit wrapped in our daily prayers and we pray that God will comfort all of you during this difficult time. Your Mom was a beautiful Soul and a special gift to all of us from God. A woman of great Character, Integity, Morals, Values and Principles. She was Spiritual, Faithful, Generous--a loving/caring Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister and she was always a Loyal and True Friend. I will always be grateful that God allowed our paths to cross and that I became good friends with her and your wonderful Dad. Rest in eternal Peace Raye as yours was truly a 'life well lived.'
